Notes:

Seed pods of D. illinoensis are highly attractive to bids and the foliage is considered palatable and nutritious for wildlife. The seed pods are also high in nutrients and as a result, we often include a few D. illinoensis in restoration and garden plantings. Not all bean species fix Nitrogen, making it accessible for other plants, but Illinois Bundle Flower does!
